This week I encountered a customer who lives in Benson Town and who wants to find the Dry Waste Collection Centre in his ward. Unfortunately, this is harder than it seems – even my initial attempts to explain it don’t suffice. So I thought I’d share the steps I took to find this information out for him so that other people can go through the steps.
- If you want to do pretty much anything in Bangalore involving the BBMP, you need to know your zone and your ward. The zone is the larger entity in the city and the ward is the smaller, neighbourhood. Every neighbourhood has street signs and on those signs you can find your ward number so that’s usually pretty easy to do. From there you need to go to the BBMP Zonal Classification website where you can look for your ward and from there, the left-hand column will tell you your zone. You can also find your ward on the Open City Urban Data Portal.
- Once you know your zone and your ward, you can go to the BBMP website to find the Dry Waste Collection Centre nearest you.
