Thinking differently about resources

At dinner tonight one of my colleagues posed a serious question: what if we looked to the natural world for examples of things that are naturally waterproof? What would that look like? Just in my immediate environment that could be coconuts shells, amaltash pods, mosambi skins, or even watermelon skins.

If we started thinking like this, wouldn’t we be able to find alternatives to plastics? It’s a brilliant question and one worth investigating vigorously. Since nature is so much smarter than man, why not observe and see what we might learn from her?
